I purchased a Victor Sarasqueta shotgun imported by Stoeger. I have identified the markings and what they represent. However the first 2 digits of serial number. Ok, first let me say that i'm very ignorant when it comes to double barrel shotguns so excuse any obvious mistakes that I may make. I inherited my grandfather's Victor Sarasqueta sxs 12ga and I know nothing about this shotgun. I tried google and found some similar shotguns around 1500-2k, but I didn't find the one I currently own. Here are some tidbits about the shotgun.

1.) on top of the bar that runs down the middle of the barrels reads 'FCA DE Victor Sarasqueta Eibar.' 2.)underneath the barrel where it attaches to the trigger part of the shotgun reads '850 kgs' 12-70 inside a diamond figure and it also has a rabbit in a running motion.

3.) The trigger part has a dog that looks like it's hunting engraved on both sides and a duck flying underneath. The serial number is 124790 Can anyone tell me the model# and production year? I absolutely don't want to sell it as my grandfather was very close to me, but i'd like to insure it and was curious as to what it's value is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have a lower grade Victor Sarasqueta gun, commonly called a 'boxlock' action. I suspect the $1,500-$2,000 guns you saw are higher grade 'sidelock' action designs. They certainly should be at those prices.

Look again at the proof marks, you should see a single digit letter followed by a single digit number, such as F1, which means the gun was proofed in 1960, G1 means 1961, H1 means 1962, etc. Given that it's a 12 gauge, it appears to be in good condition, my guess would be $600-$800 at retail.
